The Holiday Debrief
How to wrap up the festive season with purpose.
Parenting in today’s world feels like navigating an ever-changing landscape. Between the challenges of technology use, the influence of social media, and the weight of economic uncertainty, raising children can feel like a never-ending balancing act. No one has all the answers, but I’ve found a few guiding principles that help me stay grounded in my parenting journey. At the heart of it, I try to lead with respect—acknowledging that I’m raising individuals who are figuring out the world and growing into the people they’re meant to be.
Sometimes, this means stepping back and letting them explore; other times, it’s about offering them the tools and opportunities to discover what excites and motivates them. As a single mother, there are unique hurdles to overcome—whether it’s the daily juggle of doing it solo or the delicate work of co-parenting with an ex. Either way, parenting is rarely perfect. Your children will inevitably find things to critique, no matter how much effort you put in. But that’s okay. If you’re doing your best with love and intention, it’s likely to be appreciated in time.
